Habitat Management Programme
Tree planting and habitat enhancement programs are being carried out to increase the greenery in the university premises and to attract animals (e.g. butterflies, bees, birds and small mammals).
Number of fruit plants planted during the period of January to July, 2015 – 158
Number of herbal plants planted during the period of January to July, 2015 – 60
Other plants planted from January to July 2015 – 300
Number of Anhurium and other flowering plants maintained at the university plant nursery – 105
A vegetable cultivation plots are maintained at the university premises to provide food for birds and other organisms.
Herbal Garden
The Herbal and Fruit Gardens are maintained with the collaboration of Landscape Division of the University. The Landscape Division is responsible for land preparation, planting, fertilizer application, pest and disease control, plant training and plant pruning. More than 50 medicinally important rare plants are planted in the herbal garden.
